2 Samuel 24:15 – 16 (Message)
- Introduction
- Word of David prevailed; Joab counted and at that point in time, David said “I have acted foolishly.”
- “When you go on an errand that God has not sent you, you will act foolishly.” – PKO
- 1 Chronicles 21:6 – Joab did not count all the people, but excluded the Levites and Benjamites. God had established a protocol for counting.
- We need the Word of God to prevail.
- God is in Every Situation
- Psalm 139:7 & 8 (ERV) – “Your Spirit is every where I go, I cannot escape Your presence.”
- “The silence of God does not equate to the absence of God in any situation you are experiencing.” – PKO
- God acts in some situations, not all.
- God speaks in some situations.
- God can speak concerning a nation. – Children of Israel — I have heard their plight…
- After 3 1/2 years of famine, God spoke through Elijah and said enough was enough
- Israel moved in circles for 40 years in the wilderness until God said enough was enough
- God can speak concerning an individual
- John 5:1 – 8: To the sick man at the pool at Bethesda “take your bed and go home”
- God can speak concerning a situation
- God can speak concerning a nation. – Children of Israel — I have heard their plight…
- Now We Need God to Say “Enough is Enough”
- The panic is enough – 1 John 4:18 (NIV) – “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.” Fear involves torment.
- Jesus is able to soothe all pain. We need God to move right now.
- Psalm 147:3 (AMP). “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
- The sorrow is enough. Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”. Enough of the night so the joy can come in the morning.
- Anxiety leads to depression. Proverbs 12:25. “Anxiety in the heart of a man causes depression., but a good work makes it glad.”
- Death is enough
- The panic is enough – 1 John 4:18 (NIV) – “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.” Fear involves torment.
- Attributes of God that Will Make Him Move
- His tender mercy
- John 8 – Go and sin no more.
- Psalm 119:77 “Your tender mercy comes to me that I may live.”
- His compassion moves Him into action that says “It is enough”
- Compassion is a feeling of deep sympathy for someone that is hurting or in pain
- Psalm 103:13 (ESV) – “As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.”
- His faithfulness makes Him say “It is enough”
- God is ever faithful
- 1 Corinthians 10:13: Will make him to strengthen you and make a way of escape for you.
- His kindness makes Him to say “It is enough”
- Genesis – God looked at everything He had created, and He shook His head.
- Isaiah 63:7 (NKJV) – “I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, according to the multitude of His loving kindnesses”
- We, your creation are pleading, “It is enough”
- Our censer is our praises and prayer.
- His tender mercy
God will bring us to a better way, to normalcy.
Our prayer: “Please make a way and return us back to a better society, to a better nation, to a better church, and to better individuals.”
